Mama June: I’m Gonna Be a Beauty Queen!

It feels like it's been forever since we last got a substantial update on Mama June, doesn't it?

In reality, it's only been about six months since we saw the finale of her new reality show, Mama June: From Not to Hot, the one that documented her weight loss journey.

In episodes that aired back in the spring, we saw June get gastric sleeve surgery. The surgery, along with diet and exercise, led to her losing around 300 pounds.

Initially, she wanted to lose the weight to get one of those "revenge bodies" to throw in Sugar Bear's face — remember, they split up after he cheated on her several times.

At the time, he had just proposed to a woman named Jennifer Lamb, and June wanted to look extra amazing at their wedding, so she really did put a lot of work into her weight loss.

She went through the first surgery, then two more surgeries to remove excess skin. If you saw the show, or even if you just saw photos from those procedures, you know that it was rough on her.

But she lost the weight, she looked great at Sugar Bear's wedding, and she's managed to keep all that weight off for nearly a year now.

You know what that means?

It means it's time for a brand new season!

WE tv just released a teaser for the second season of Mama June: From Not to Hot, and it's … well, it's probably not exactly what you'd suspect.

The teaser starts with a shot of a tiara, and in the caption of the video, the network wrote "Mama June is hitting the pageant circuit!"

Could it be? Could June be following in Honey Boo Boo's footsteps? Could she really be entering the world of beauty pageants?

Looks like it. There's really no other way to interpret all this.

"To be a pageant queen, one needs refinement, poise, charm," a fancy Englishman explains in a voiceover while June acts like June.

Just in this short little teaser, we see her burp, fart, and blow an air horn while good ol' Jennifer Lamb tries to talk to her.

"Mama June's hitting the pageant circuit," the voiceover announces, as she asks "Why the hell not, y'all?"

Why the hell not, y'all, indeed.

We don't have an exact premiere date yet, but come January 2018, Mama June will find her way back to our televisions.

… Yay?

Keeping Up with the Kardashians Recap: A Thing of Beauty

This week on Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 14 Episode 7, it was a time for new beginnings … and some old issues.

Khloe brought home her boyfriend, Tristan Thompson, for the summer, while Kourtney tried to set some boundaries with Scott.

You can imagine how that went over.

If you watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians online, you know that Khloe and the Cleveland Cavaliers forward are getting serious.

“Tristan has always gone out of his way to make me feel at home,” she said. “And in Cleveland he’s gone above and beyond.”

“In L.A. I want to do the same for him.”

While she was stressed about whether to live at her house with him or get a place closer to UCLA, she decided she was overthinking it.

“After talking with Tristan we have come to the conclusion that I’m crazy,” she recounted. “I don’t know why I was stressing myself out.”

“We have our beautiful home in Calabasas. All Tristan really wants is to be with me and for us to enjoy our summer together.”

“That’s really all that matters.”

Proving what a sweet guy he is to have around, Thompson surprised Kardashian with a birthday party with her family and friends in L.A.

“I’ve never had a surprise party ever,” Khloé said. “We were at dinner and Tristan was so calm. He was as cool as a cucumber.”

“He’s good at surprise parties. I had no clue.”

She gushed, “Tristan is just incredible. I’ve never been this happy. I am so lucky to be with someone that is so thoughtful and so sweet.”

Not so happy with the situation? Lord D.

“I didn’t even get invited to her birthday,” he complained to Kim and his ex, Kourtney, using the flawed argument, “I’m family!”

Knowing Kourtney was the reason he didn’t make the guest list, she tried to explain it away, but only made the situation worse.

“I didn’t want you to coming to the birthday and be photographed going in,” Kourtney said, with Scott not buying it for a second.

“Photographed going in is your concern?” Disick said. “My concern would be … to be there for your sister who I love and care about.

“For the past 10-12 years,” he went on, “[he’s] been there for through thick and thin and marriages and all these different things.”

Kourtney later came clean to Khloe about this.

“I’m a little bit caught off guard. I just said that I didn’t want to be photographed even though that’s really not what I meant,” she admitted.

“I just try to be positive. And I didn’t want to say I just didn’t want you there. So if I can’t say anything nice, I just won’t say anything at all.”

Then Kourtney opened up to him, as well …

“There’s times when I want you to come and there’s times that I don’t,” she told Disick, and he did understand, at least to a point.

“Obviously I’m not able to handle everything that well,” he said. “I don’t have the best support team. I can try to f–king be a better person.”

“It’s [just] not the simplest thing.”

Hilariously, he then joked, “When do you think were gonna get married by the way, like 40?” Kourtney then responded in kind:

“You think when I turn 40 I’m gonna go, hey I’ve been looking for this drunk guy and he has a bunch of dirty s–t stained underwear?”

He walked into that one.

Kim, meanwhile, was stressing about the launch of her KKW Beauty line, which was inspired and aided by her one and only.

“Kanye saw the plans and it was so helpful his input,” Kim said. “He called the florist and we made that whole flower rose room last minute.”

“That was honestly like the biggest attraction,” she said.

“It’s so exciting to do something on my own. Basically for the past almost decade my sisters and I have always had a licensing deal.”

“Going from being a licensee to an owner is so much more responsibility. I feel like this has been what I’ve been working for for 10 years.”

Kim was uneasy about taking on such a high-profile role, as she was still easing back into the spotlight after her October 2016 robbery.

“I’ve been like slowly taking my time to come back and this is a serious, sit-down, major interview,” Kim said of interviewing the CEO.

“This isn’t … I don’t know how something like this could go. If they want to ask me crazy questions, it’s Steve Forbes,” she said.

“It’s hard for me to get back out there.”

In the end – following the re-release of new promotional images (fans thought she was wearing blackface in the originals) – it was a hit.

Kim was happy with how the launch party turned out, and the family mogul proved she isn’t ready to cede that title to Kylie just yet.

“There’s such amazing press on this launch party,” she gushes. “And I’m so happy we made so many changes so it would be perfect.”

Get it, girl.

Beauty Queen Asked to Lose Weight, Hands in Crown Instead!

With all the tragedy that’s been going on in the world lately, it feels like it’s high time for a nice, uplifting story, right?

And drop dead gorgeous beauty queen Zoiey Smale has just the thing!

That’s Zoiey. She’s really, really beautiful — and she’s also a size 10.

A size 10 in her native United Kingdom, that is. In U.S. sizes, she’s about a 6.

But why are we even talking about her dress size? Because, after winning a UK beauty pageant called Miss United Continents, she was informed that she needed to lose weight.

No, really. Someone actually looked at her and then told her that.

Not that that sort of body-shaming is OK anyway, but for real, look at this girl. In what universe does she need to lose weight?

As Zoiey explained in an interview with the Daily Mail, she won the UK title, but was expected to go on to compete for the international Miss United Continents title in Ecuador this month.

In July, the national pageant director called her up and told her that she had some “feedback” for her from the international director.

“She said to me ‘They want you to go on a diet plan and they want you to lose as much weight as possible for the finals.’ I was like, ‘Pardon?'”

“It was one of those things, in the 21st century you don’t actually expect people to be that blunt,” she added.

“I’m not big at all, I’m just bang on average. I just think to be told to lose as much weight as possible for a competition, why would people say that?” she continued.

“It’s horrible and it made me feel so rubbish about myself for a long, long time.”

Which is terribly sad, because obviously she’s not the one with the problem in this story.

She said that she hung up with the director and took time to consider how exactly to respond, because “I was so angry I didn’t just want to throw out insults.”

Eventually, “I said to my director, who was really supportive, that I don’t think someone should say that to girls, it’s awful and it’s horrible and it’s wrong.”

“I don’t think to be a good role model you have to be stick thin and I explained my reasoning that way.”

Finally, “I handed my title back because I’m not going to support a competition that can do that to people, I just think it’s so, so wrong.”

“People wonder why there’s a stigma behind beauty pageants and this is not really helping the matter.”

When she did the first part of the competition, the part for the UK title, she said that there was an emphasis on charity work, but things changed.

“This one took completely away from promoting giving,” she said. “It’s more you’ve got to be as stick thin as possible because that’s what the guys want to see.”

“So I just handed my title back and I just shut that door.”

Absolutely amazing.

Zoiey may no longer be the queen of this particular pageant, but we’re going to go ahead and say it …

She may have just landed a new title as the queen of our hearts.

Kim Kardashian Under Fire for “Blackface” Beauty Ads: See the Scandalous Pics!

Kim Kardashian has come out with a new line of beauty products.

This seems like a logical step for the former sex tape actress, but the business venture has already landed Kardashian in trouble for two reasons:

ONE, she’s been accused of straight up copying Kylie Jenner, considering Kim’s half-sister has been dominating the cosmetics game for years now.

Then again, Kylie is getting her own reality show on E! this summer, which one could easily view as the 19-year old following in the footsteps of her sister.

So the safest assumption here may just be that Kim and Kylie are working together to ensure each pushes her brand as strongly as possible.

(Note: By this, of course, we mean that Kris Jenner is the one doing all the working and negotiating and controlling the careers of all her children behind the scenes.)

The SECOND controversy centered around Kim Kardashian Beauty, however, is a bit more serious.

A handful of social media users have taken a look at a Twitter photo released by the star in promotion of her product line and wondered:

Why is Kim Kardashian going blackface?!?

#KKWBEAUTY Creme Contour & Highlight Kit 6.21.17 http://KKWBEAUTY.COM, wrote Kim as a caption to this controversial photo.

This is a pretty serious accusation.

The term “blackface” stems from the 19th century.

Back then, it was a form of theatrical makeup used predominantly by non-black performers to represent an African-American individual.

The practice rose popularity during the over 100 years ago and contributed to the spread of racial stereotypes such as the “happy-go-lucky darky on the plantation” or the “dandified coon.”

Back in 2015, Kylie actually faced the same allegation after she posed in some very dark makeup for a photo spread.

Perhaps most famously in Hollywood, Julianne Hough was slammed for her Halloween costume in 2013 after she darkened her face and features to dress up like a character from Orange is the New Black.

Did Kim mean to stoke racial fires via the pictures above?

We strongly doubt it.

But take a look at a few reactions below to see how she’s done so nevertheless.

Kim Kardashian reactions

This backlash comes just a few days after Khloe Kardashian was accused of “appropriating designs and fashion directly from a black woman with a small business” from designer Destiny Bleu for her Good American clothing line.

So it’s not a great time to be a Kardashian sister at the moment.

It’s not a controversial opinion to state that these siblings are attracted to African-American men. That’s just a fact. Take a look at their dating history.

How does this jibe with their occasionally insensitive actions when it comes to race?

It’s impossible to say.

It’s also conceivable that the Internet is way overblowing its responses to these photos and that Kim had no intention of darkening her face.

Of all the reasons to criticize Kim Kardashian, this one seems like a reach.

But we’re gonna leave it alone. We’re gonna let readers decide and debate.

Do you think Kardashian owes the world an apology for these inappropriate pictures?
