Jason Hoppy: Dennis Shields’ Death PROVES Bethenny Frankel Is a Bad Mom!

If you thought that you hated Jason Hoppy before, when he was stalking and harassing Bethenny Frankel, you’re about to be even less of a fan of his.

Dennis Shields was found dead last week, and while Bethenny was mourning the loss of her ex-boyfriend, Hoppy and his attorney readied their move.

Hoppy is already trying to use Shields’ death to hurt Bethenny in court.

Us Weekly had an insider in court on Thursday, August 16, when Hoppy’s attorney brought up Dennis Shields in a disgusting attempt to cast doubt on Bethenny’s qualifications as a mother to the couple’s 8-year-old, Bryn.

“It was reported that he died of an Oxycodone overdose,” Hoppy’s attorney reportedly said in the courtroom.

You can immediately see where this is going. Ugh.

Hoppy’s attorney continued: “Our concern is while his death is very sad, this raises serious concerns about Ms. Frankel’s parental judgment.”

For the record, Dennis Shields’ final words revealed that he had mixed ordinary medications that may have had a deadly interaction, but that’s the least of the problems with this argument.

“Dennis Shields spent a great deal of time with Bryn,” Hoppy’s attorney asserted. “And even cared for Bryn at times when Ms. Frankel wasn’t around.”

Well, Shields was part of Bethenny’s life for a couple of decades and he also dated her. That’s normal.

“Considering Mr. Shields’ addiction,” Hoppy’s team argued. “What does that say about Ms. Frankel’s parenting that she would allow this person to care for her daughter?”

That is heavily loaded with assumptions about Shields’ health and unfounded prejudices against people who use prescription painkillers.

“This doesn’t just constitute a lapse in judgment,” Hoppy’s attorney claimed. “This was just downright dangerous parenting.”

This didn’t come up in court out of nowhere. Apparently, Hoppy’s team waited until things were going well for Bethenny before bringing up such a loaded attack.

“Bethenny, in Bryn’s best interest, asked for a new trial,” the courtroom insider reports.

“The minute the judge agreed to that today,” the source continues. “Jason’s side brought up the Dennis stuff.”

One wonders how long they waited after news broke of Shields’ tragic passing before preparing to use this as a weapon in court.

That said … we have to remember that attorney’s are sworn to zealously represent their clients.

The courtroom insider said that the judge noticed that this was quite an escalation.

The source shares: “The judge said now you’re throwing ‘grenades.’”

“Jason and his team were OK with Bethenny as a mom when they walked into the courtroom,” the insider reports.

That chagned when things stopped going their way, it seems.

“But then once Bethenny got what she wanted,” the insider describes. “They didn’t think the was a good mom.”

Hoppy’s team also tried to dredge up Bethenny’s The Real Housewives of New York City behavior, as if it reflected her skills as a parent.

“There was a recent episode in which she appeared to be intoxicated,” Hoppy’s team reportedly argued. “She was running around without clothes on and then she passed out and it was said she passed out from mixing Ambien with alcohol.”

Arguing that someone’s child-free behavior on a reality series disqualifies them from being a parent is usually a stretch, akin to confusing an actor with a movie role they played.

“Our concerns are whether Ms. Frankel may have some type of substance-abuse problems,” Hopps’ attorney had the nerve to say. “So we would ask the court to order drug testing of Ms. Frankel to find out whether that’s an issue.”

Bethenny Frankel’s Boyfriend’s Last Words Help Explain Trump Tower Death

Bethenny Frankel’s late boyfriend, Dennis Shields, was able to utter a few words to EMTs and police before he died — and they paint a clearer picture of how he passed. Sources say Dennis told the responding EMTs and cops he’d taken some of his…

Bethenny Frankel: I’m Like the Mother of Dragons!

Important programming note:

The upcoming Real Housewives of New York Season 10 reunion special was filmed before Dennis Shields passed away.

This is important to note because the sneak peek featured here depicts nearly every cast member ganging up on Bethenny Frankel, something that obviously would not happen at the moment due to Shields' tragic passing.

(Shields and Frankel started dating in 2016 and remained very close up until the time he died of an accidental overdose; there was even talk that he had been thinking of proposing.)

In this clip, Ramona Singer tells the cameras she’s feeling relaxed and calm – although it seems as if this mood immediately once she hits the stage.

"Don’t say a f-cking thing, with your fake tits,” she yells at Bethenny early in the amazing preview.

“This is like Game of Thrones. I’m like the mother of dragons fighting multiple blondes,” Frankel says during the video.

When sharing a story with host and producer Andy Cohen in front of her fellow cast members, many of these women then slam her as a liar and scream in Bethenny's direction.

When everyone keeps talking over each other, Andy goes off:

“I want to hear her f-cking answer,” he says.

Intense stuff.

Sort of scary stuff even.

At other times, Sonja Morgan and Dorinda Medley go head-to-head, making it evident that Bethenny is the only star with enemies on stage.

“I don’t get drunk and insult my friends’ vaginas,” Morgan awesomely yells at one point, to which Dorinda replies:

“Shut up, Sonja, keep your mouth shut.”

Anger is not the only emotion on display, however.

We also see women pay tribute to Jill Zarin’s late husband Bobby Zarin … but then they also question Bethenny’s motives when she chooses to attend his funeral.

(Bobby passed away in January, and despite Jill’s tense relationship with Frankel, entrepreneur still paid her respects in person.)

One more note before you click PLAY:

Luann de Lesseps was not present at the reunion due to her recent stint in rehab, but this absence will be addressed.

Part one of The Real Housewives of New York City reunion will air on Bravo Wednesday, August 22, at 8/7c.

Bethenny Frankel Breaks Silence on Death of Dennis Shields

Bethenny Frankel has spoken out for the first time since her long-term ex-boyfriend was found dead of an apparent drug overdose.

As reported last Friday, Dennis Shields passed away as the result of what appears to have been over-consumption of the prescription pill Oxycodone, although we’re still waiting for an official report from the coroner’s office.

He was 51 years old.

Just two days before this tragedy took place, Frankel had talked openly on an episode of The Real Housewives of New York City about how she was planning to take a three-month break from her romance with Shields.

However, this installment was filmed many months ago.

A far more recent report alleged that Shields was planning to propose to Bethenny during their final dinner date, only to get the strong impression in the middle of this meal that she was uninterested in marriage.

The general point here, however, is that Frankel and Shields were a very serious item for a long time.

They started dating in 2016 and continually found their way back to each other in the years since.

In the wake of Shields’ passing, Frankel has now shared the following image on Instagram.

shields, d

The snapshot features Shields in bed with Frankel’s beloved dog Cookie, who passed away in October at the age of 17.

“Rest In Peace my sweet babies who gave me endless unconditional love,” wrote Bethenny as a caption, adding the hashtah “#nowandforever.”

We’re not about to judge anyone for how he or she responds to death.

Everyone mourns in his or her own way.

However, some social media users out there were taken aback by Frankel’s initial statement here for three reasons:

ONE, the passing of a pet is very sad. But is it a little bit odd to compare this event to the passing of a human loved one?

TWO, could it also be considered inappropriate to share a photo of Shields in a semi-passed out state, considering he died of an overdose?

THREE, Bethenny’s caption says nothing about Shields with the exception of how he treated her, which comes across as a bit self-serving.

Conversely, some are saying, Dennis’ estranged wife, to whom he was still legally married when he died, posted the above picture of herself and Shields.

Among other tributes, she wrote the following:

To the love of my life- Dennis-I will miss you every day. Forever your legacy will live on in our children and our future grandchildren.

Your intelligence, humor and of course your good looks will forever be engrained in our family!

even though we did not live together, you still remained my best friend and my husband. You’re the best — always and forever!

Jill, Bethenny and many others attended a funeral for Shields in Long Island on Monday.

According to the New York Post, Shields knew something was very wrong last Friday morning and asked his assistant to give him Narcan, an emergency medication intended to reverse the effects of a narcotic overdose.

However, he lost consciousness before the medication could take effect and was pronounced dead a short time later.

May he rest in peace.

Bethenny Frankel Is Heartbroken Over Dennis Shields’ Tragic Death

Last week, Bethenny Frankel’s ex-boyfriend Dennis Shields was found dead of an apparent overdose.

The Skinnygirl founder and The Real Housewives of New York City star has not made an official statement yet.

But an insider describes how she’s responding to the sudden passing of her on-again, off-again boyfriend.

A source tells E! that Bethenny Frankel is not taking this well.

“This is really bad,” the insider admits. No death is good, but this one was especially sudden and therefore so much more shocking.

Bethenny’s is taking it hard, the source reveals, saying: “It’s dreadful.”

“She’s known him for over 20 years,” the insider reminds the world. That’s a lot of time and affection.

The source explains: “She’s heartbroken.”

As we told you last week when this crushing news broke, 51-year-old Shields was found dead by police in his Trump Tower apartment on Friday.

Law enforcement tried to revive him, but paramedics declared him dead.

The cause of his death, officially, remains under investigation.

However, it has been reported that Shields suffered from an apparent overdose.

In fact, it is said that his assistant administered Narcan but was unable to revive him.

Jill Schwartzberg Shields, Dennis Shields’ estranged wife, has made an official statement about his passing.

“Dennis’ family is devastated by this terrible news,” Jill says.

“He was a loving father,” Jill’s statement continues. “And friend.”

Jill makes a request: “We ask that the media respect our privacy during this time of loss.”

Of course. Estranged or not, this is a very trying time for everyone in his life.

Though Bethenny Frankel has yet to make an official public statement, some of her costars and erstwhile friends have come forward.

Taking to Twitter, Carole Radziwille mourned Dennis Shields‘ passing.

“I just heard the sad news about Dennis,” Carole wrote on social media.

It’s crushing news, even for those who were never a direct part of his life.

“He was a good man,” Carole affirms.

“My condolences to all his family and friends,” Carole continues. “So tragic.”

Though Carole and Bethenny are no longer friends, they were once close, so it only makes sense that Carole knew Shields well enough to grieve over his death.

Bethenny Frankel will probably make an official public statement in time, but it is more than understandable that she is taking time to grieve in private.

Just because someone is a public personality does not mean that they owe their fans to expose every piece of their raw feelings at any given moment.

When she is ready, she will put together the words and mourn his loss.

For now, she is experiencing a lot of unpleasant raw emotions and she has every right to sort through that in peace.

We wish his friends, family, and other loved ones the best as they deal with this senseless tragedy.

It is our hope that they can find peace and, eventually, closure. Sometimes, that’s the best thing that you can possibly wish for people who are mourning the loss of someone they care about.

Dennis Shields Nearly Proposed to Bethenny Frankel Before He Died: Report

Bethenny Frankel is yet to speak on the tragic death of Dennis Shields.

As previously detailed, the 51-year old died last Friday morning in his Trump Tower apartment, allegedly of an accidental Oxycodone overdose.

Shields had often been featured and discussed on The Real Housewives of New York City due to his long-term, on-again/off-again relationship with Frankel, arguably the most successful and best-known star in this entire Bravo franchise.

In fact, Frankel had only just talked about her romance with Shields on the last new installment that aired, telling Dorinda Medley that she was planning to take a 90-day break from the relationship.

But that episode was filmed many months ago.

According to Radar Online, Frankel and Shields were actually in a fairly positive place not long before the latter passed away.

So positive, in fact, that Shields was planning to propose to Frankel during the final dinner date they would ever have.

“He bought a ring and took her to dinner to feel her out and it became obvious to him that she’d never marry him and it left Dennis heart broken,” an insider tells Radar, elaborating about what transpired as follows:

Bethenny could sense that he was going to ask her to marry him and it pushed her away. So he never took it out to propose but that was his purpose.”

That really puts things in perspective, huh?

Frankel and Shields actually met over 30 years ago.

They remained in touch and starting dating in 2016, not long after Shields split from his wife and three years after Bethenny broke up with husband Jason Hoppy.

It’s not shocking, to anyone familiar with this up-and-down relationship, that Shields could see a serious future with Frankel, while she maintain major doubts over the years.

This doesn’t mean she didn’t feel very strongly about Shields, of course.

“He was hoping the time was finally right, but just as he got his hopes up he was shot down again, and that would be the last time sadly,” Radar writes of the aforementioned meal.

As we said, Bethenny has not yet commented on his passing.

However, Dennis was still legally married to his estranged wife, Jill, saying:

“We are all heartbroken. Dennis was, and will always be, the love of my life. His spirit lives on in our children. Please respect our family’s privacy at this time.”

She also Tweeted:

“Even though we did not live together, you still remained my nest friend and my husband. Not many people were able to grasp our situation but it worked for us.”

Finally, Carole Radziwill, Frankel’s former friend and occasional foil, expressed her shock and sadness on social media via the following message:

I just heard the sad news about Dennis. He was a good man. My condolences to all his family and friends. So tragic.

CR Tweet

We send our condolences to Frankel and to anyone who knew Dennis Shields well.

May he rest in peace.

Dennis Shields, Ex-Boyfriend of Bethenny Frankel, Found Dead in Manhattan

Dennis Shields, best known in celebrity gossip circles for his on-again/off-again relationship with Bethenny Frankel, was found dead in his Trump Tower apartment on Friday morning.

He was 51 years old.

According to The New York Post, Shields passed away due to a prescription pills overdose, as insiders tell the newspaper that he knew something was very wrong shortly before he died.

Sources tell the publication that Shields asked his assistant to administer Narcan around 9 a.m. today, which is a medication used in order to reverse the affects of over-opioid consumption.

(Narcan has been in the news of late because it was also given to Demi Lovato by paramedics as soon as they found the singer unconcious from her own overdose last month.)

Sadly, however, Shields lost consciousness before the medication kicked in and he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Not many other details surrounding his death are available at this time.

Frankel and Shields began dating in 2016.

We started writing about him in June of that year, giving readers as clear an idea as we could about Shields.

We believe he was the first person Frankel started dating after she split from husband Jason Hoppy.

The late 51-year old found himself caught up in this ugly divorce after Hoppy sent Frankel an endless number of harrassing emails post-break-up, CCing Shields in the process.

At one point, Shields’ attorney sent Hoppy a letter accusing him of firing off 49 emails of “increasing frequency and hostility” in 70 days, TMZ reported back in late 2016.

This past May, the veteran Bravo star told Steve Harvey that her relationship with Shield was complicated.

“I’ve been with someone on and off for years,” she told the talk show host just a couple months ago, adding:

“It’s like a partnership where if we’re not being teammates and it’s not working and one man is down, then the other man is down.

“We’re trying to really kind of be good partners and be good teammates and I think relationships oddly are – and this sounds cold – but a little bit like business.”

Frankel and Shields actually first met nearly 30 years ago when he dated (and later married) one of her high school friends.

Although she didn’t stay in touch with her classmate, Frankel and Shields share other mutual pals and started dating several months after he separated from his wife.

Added Frankel to Harvey, when discussing her future with Shields:

“If both people aren’t happy about it but slightly uncomfortable and giving up something or giving in [to] something, it doesn’t work. So both partners have to say, ‘All right, I’m in it for this.’

“And I think we might be at that point, believe it or not.

“I haven’t said that to anyone yet.”

Bethenny was saying here that she really thought she might be committing to Shields in the near future.

The Real Housewives of New York City star also spoke about taking a break from Shields during the Wednesday, August 8, episode of the Bravo series, telling Dorinda Medley:

“I didn’t say it to Dennis, but in my own mind, I said, ’90 days. I’m not saying a word to Dennis for 90 days.’ It’s a really hard thing to realize that someone you love, it doesn’t mean they’re the right person.

“And I wish he was.”

Our heart goes out to her and all who knew and loved Dennis Shields.

May he rest in peace.

UPDATE: “Preliminarily, we are investigating it as a possible overdose,” a NYPD spokesperson has simply said, while Dennis’ estranged wife, Jill, adds in a statement:

“We are all heartbroken. Dennis was, and will always be, the love of my life.

“His spirit lives on in our children. Please respect our family’s privacy at this time.”
