Nelly took a major step in proving he’s got nothing to hide in a criminal case out of the UK, where he’s being investigated for alleged sexual assault.
Law enforcement sources tell us the St. Louis rapper was interviewed last week by the Essex Police at their Southend station, where they’ve opened a criminal probe into an alleged sexual assault from 2017 … when Nelly performed in the area.
We’re told Nelly flew out to meet with cops — without being asked — and we’re told his participation is a major step forward in the investigation … but not necessarily the deciding factor. It might be a while before a decision is made on whether to charge him.
Nelly was never detained at the police station. A rep for the rapper tells TMZ … “Nelly flew to the UK on his own volition last week to work with the police in assisting their investigation to clear his name completely.”
As we’ve reported … Nelly’s been accused of masturbating in front of a woman and forcing his penis in her mouth after a meet and greet in December 2017. She says she was able to flee and didn’t immediately go to cops out of fear of not being believed.
Nelly — who’s denied the latest allegation — is being sued for the same alleged incident. He also settled a separate lawsuit with a woman who’d accused him of rape.
Chris Brown is walking around Paris without fear of getting cuffed and hauled back to the police station, because cops found his rape accuser’s story almost impossible to believe … TMZ has learned.
One source directly connected to the case tells us, “The weakest part of the case is the alleged victim’s statement to police.”
We’re told she told cops that Chris raped her in his hotel suite dressing room for somewhere between 25 and 30 minutes. She says she then went into another room and was raped again, this time by one of Brown’s friends. And then, she said she was “abused” for a third time in another room. We’re told police believe the story doesn’t hold water because she never attempted to leave or alert anyone.
Right or wrong, we’re told that’s why cops made the decision to release Brown without any conditions, including surrendering his passport. A source close to Brown says police actually apologized to Brown when they let him go.
What’s especially interesting … Brown didn’t beeline it for the airport. He’s staying in Paris — at the same hotel — apparently without fear he’ll be arrested again. We’re told the investigation is still ongoing, although it seems authorities have made some fundamental decisions about the case.
Brown certainly acted like he was exonerated Wednesday, when he mingled in public, proclaiming his love for everyone.
One Brown source said, “An innocent man shouldn’t be worried about staying at a place where he didn’t commit a crime.”
Blac Chyna just got another visit from LAPD, hours after officers were called to her home after someone falsely claimed Chyna was drunk and endangering Dream Kardashian.
Law enforcement sources tell us … this time around, cops showed up to diffuse a potentially explosive situation involving Chyna and her former makeup artist. They were tight until this weekend, when the 2 had a nuclear argument at Chyna’s home. The makeup artist left without taking her stuff, and today cops went with her to retrieve the mascara, eyeliner and other stuff.
TMZ broke the story … cops raced to Chyna’s home Sunday night after an anonymous caller claimed she was drunk and neglecting Dream … and this went down shortly after the makeup artist left.
Officers determined no one was drunk at the home and Dream was being properly cared for … there was also a nanny there for extra support.
As for Monday’s call, we’re told nothing escalated between her and Chyna. She got her stuff and left.
Blac Chyna had the LAPD at her home after a call came in alleging Chyna was intoxicated and neglecting her child.
Law enforcement sources tell us an anonymous person called in Sunday night and stated Chyna was drunk at her home. The caller claimed Chyna was in such bad shape, she couldn’t properly care for her daughter, Dream Kardashian.
Cops went to Chyna’s house and determined everything was fine, nobody was drunk, and Dream was being properly cared for. There was also a nanny at the home.
Sources close to the situation tell us earlier in the night, Chyna got in a fight with a member of her glam team and the incident may have triggered the call to cops.
As we reported — Chyna allegedly threw a drink at “Love & Hip Hop” star Alexis Skyy last week — in response to Skyy hanging out with Rob Kardashian. Rob posted a video of Skyy at his home just a couple days later.
We reached out to a rep for Chyna … so far, no word back.
The blistering Michael Jackson documentary premiering at Sundance will also feature angry pro-Jackson protesters, and we’ve learned local police are gearing up for possible confrontations.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … the Park City PD is aware of an anti-documentary protest being organized on social media, so cops are going to beef up their presence both inside and outside the premiere with uniformed and undercover officers.
We’re told law enforcement is most concerned about disruptions taking place during the Q&A portion of the screening — historically, that’s when protesters have caused the biggest disturbances. However, we’re told cops won’t stop people from exercising their First Amendment rights, so long as protesters don’t block sidewalks or entrances.
As you know … the doc, “Leaving Neverland,” explores alleged sexual abuse by the King of Pop, and the film is already being slammed by the late singer’s estate. Despite outside pressure to pull the film, Sundance officials say it’s full steam ahead.
All Sundance events have increased security — including bag checks and bomb dogs — but extra resources will be allocated to the MJ screening when it premieres Friday, Jan. 25.
Police are at R. Kelly‘s recording studio in Chicago, and while it has nothing to do with the allegations put forth in “Surviving R. Kelly” … it is related to potential illegal activity.
The issue appears to be Kelly’s studio being used as a residence. Law enforcement sources tell us Chicago PD showed up there Wednesday afternoon with the Cook County Building and Zoning Dept. We’re told the B & Z is there because the building is only zoned for industrial use, so if anyone is living there … that’s a no-no.
We’re told police typically accompany the Building Dept. on such matters … and officers did NOT go just because it’s Kelly’s place. BTW, the singer reportedly owes a ton of back rent — $ 166k — and is facing eviction before the month’s end.
Obviously, the sight of police swarming Kelly’s crib immediately made people think an arrest was going down.
No dice. Yet.
R. Kelly came face-to-face with cops in Chicago after an anonymous caller claimed the singer was holding two women hostage.
The Cook County State Attorney’s Office got a tip Friday that Kelly was at his Trump Tower residence with the women … and he was holding them against their will. We’re told cops raced to the property and made contact with R. Kelly and the women.
Our sources say 5 officers came to the home and ordered Kelly into the other room while they questioned the women. According to Chicago PD, both women said they were at the residence voluntarily and nothing untoward was going on. Police then left without incident.
We’re told the 2 women were Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary, both of whom have maintained they were with R. Kelly voluntarily, despite their parents’ strong claims they were the victims of brainwashing.
TMZ broke the story … cops were called to a Chicago club Thursday morning after a tip was called in that Kelly was at the club partying and there was a warrant out for his arrest. Officers spoke with Kelly — determined there was no warrant — and let the singer continue to party.
As we reported … Cook County State Attorney Kimberly Foxx has publicly urged victims of Kelly to come forward. We’re told the victim hotline has been burning up ever since.
Snow White isn’t heading for a fairy tale ending this time around … because a woman dressed as the famous Disney character got shoved in the back of a police cruiser after cops say she was way too belligerent begging for money.
Someone shot this video of Snow White getting busted for aggressive panhandling Thursday afternoon on Hollywood Blvd., and the photog clearly thinks the LAPD is playing the role of the witch.
It’s kinda funny … there’s a Batman character standing idly by as cops handle the situation. Guess the Dark Knight has a soft spot for Disney princesses.
We’ve seen panhandlers get aggressive on Hollywood Blvd. before … back in 2011, a man dressed as SpongeBob SquarePants started squaring up with 2 women!!!
No word on if Snow White is getting bailed out by the Seven Dwarfs.
Aretha Franklin‘s riches weren’t getting much R-E-S-P-E-C-T, allegedly, before she died last August — cops are on the hunt for someone who stole from her.
According to legal docs, obtained by TMZ, police in Michigan are conducting an investigation into the theft of Aretha’s assets before she died.
Law enforcement sources tell us the criminal probe involves someone inappropriately using her funds. We’re told a report was filed last June, but it’s unclear exactly how much money’s gone missing.
As you know … Aretha’s finances have been under the microscope following her death. The IRS is hounding her estate, claiming she owes more than $ 6.3 mil in back taxes. And, she’s being dogged over legal bills.
We’re guessing this isn’t what Aretha had in mind when she famously sang, “I’m about to give you all of my money.”
