Mario Batali Under Criminal Investigation For Sexual Assault

Back in December of 2017, Mario Batali stepped down from his lucrative restaurant and media empire amid shocking allegations of sexual misconduct.

The accusations against Batali were appalling, to be sure, but it wasn’t long before they were overshadowed by the many other scandals of the #MeToo era.

There was a time when it was widely believed that with enough time and the right PR strategy, Batali might eventually be able to find a path to redemption and return to the industry that made him famous.

But now, a report from Anderson Cooper that aired during Sunday night’s episode of 60 Minutes seems to have exposed the very worst of Batali’s misconduct and laid waste to his hopes for a comeback.

In the segment, Cooper spoke with multiple women who claim to have been victimized by Batali.

One former employee stated that Batali groped her breasts and alleged that she saw him sexually assault another woman, who was only semi-conscious and appeared to have been drugged.

She added that she and several other employees put a stop to the attack.

Today, a spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed that police are “investigating allegations raised in the 60 Minutes report.”

One of the women who accused Batali on 60 Minutes told CNN today that she spoke with police back in February, thus indicating that the investigation has been going on for several months.

As with Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein before him, Batali’s behavior was something of an open secret in his industry.

After the public learned of the allegations that the 57-year-old had harassed and assaulted numerous female employees, several denizens of the New York restaurant world stated that they were sadly not surprised.

Over the course of his decades as a chef and media personality, Batali had developed a reputation for crude comments and predatory behavior.

“You will eat your pasta or I will rub the shrimp across your breasts,” he told a friend’s wife during a now-infamous meal that was later documented in print.

“It’s not fair I have this view all to myself when you bend over. For dessert, would you take off your blouse for the others?” he remarked to a waitress during the same dinner.

But even those who long been aware of Batali’s penchant for boorish behavior are shocked today by the revelation that he may have drugged and assaulted several women that he employed.

Batali declined to be interviewed by 60 Minutes, but he issued a statement reading in part:

“My past behavior has been deeply inappropriate and I am sincerely remorseful for my actions.”

We will have further updates on this situation as more information becomes available.

Jim Bob Duggar: Under Investigation For Criminal Business Practices?

Jim Bob Duggar has made a name for himself preaching the virtues of humility, modesty, and Christian charity.

However, there are those who believe that the reality star’s lifestyle doesn’t align with his ideals and that Jim Bob has proven chronically unable to practice what he preaches.

It goes without saying that the Duggar patriarch has made millions from his vast media empire.

But what many fans may not realize is that Jim Bob’s business aspirations don’t end there.

Over the years, he’s been involved in everything from politics to real estate, and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Jim Bob has sold used cars; he’s launched a towing and repair company; he even bought up a large tract of land near his hometown so that he could lease it to a communications company that hoped to build a transmission tower there.

Basically, if you’re spending money in or around Tontitown, Arkansas, there’s a very good chance Jim Bob is getting a portion of it.

Locals have taken to calling the area “Duggartown,” and not surprisingly, there are many who take issue with a private citizen amassing such an incredible amount of power – and some of those folks share Jim Bob’s last name.

A former Duggar employee informs The Hollywood Gossip that Jim Bob’s second-oldest son, John David Duggar, has clashed with his father repeatedly in recent years.

The issue, it seems is that John David feels Jim Bob has been consumed by greed and reckless spending, and he fears that his father is putting the family at risk, not only by rolling the dice with their savings, but also by constantly butting heads with local authorities.

Just last week, Jim Bob outraged his neighbors with his efforts to have protected land re-zoned for public use so that he could develop it into a “high-end RV park” for the type of Ozark campers who seek to bring their living rooms into the wilderness.

The project has attracted loads of negative publicity, as well as questions about the legality of Jim Bob’s re-zoning efforts.

And now, it appears that this isn’t the first time that Jim Bob’s business initiatives have brought him into murky legal territory in recent years.

The first such incident occurred way back in 1988 when Jim Bob launched a business called Save-N-Go, INC.

Three years later, the Department of the Arkansas Secretary of State revoked Jim Bob’s license upon realizing that he had failed to file an annual report, likely in an effort to conceal his earnings from the IRS.

Jim Bob has run afoul of state and federal governments on several subsequent occasions, with one notable incident occurring just last year:

According to Radar Online, Jim Bob and Michelle launched Duggar Processing, LLC – an umbrella corporation to encompass all of their many business ventures – in May of 2015.

The company was shut down in January of 2017 when once again, Jim Bob’s business license was revoked.

This time authorities claimed that the Duggars had filed to meet tax document requirements in each year that the business had been operational.

Now, many believe that the locals who oppose Jim Bob’s RV park will get their wish, as the project appears to be dead in the water, likely as a result of an investigation into Jim Bob’s long history of shady business ventures.

It’s not always easy to answer the question “what would Jesus do?” but we’re pretty sure the correct response is never “constantly break the law and screw your neighbors in order to line your pockets.”

Prince Overdose Will NOT Result in Criminal Charges, Attorney Announces

We have another update on the passing of Prince.

Nearly two years to the day on which Prince died from a drug overdose, Carver County attorney Mark Metz says no criminal charges will be filed in conjunction with this tragedy.

During a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Metz explained that the “charging decision must be made on legal merits,” and not just on celebrity status, eventually stating that he “will not file any criminal charges” due to a lack of evidence.

Prior to this confirmation, there had been many questions over how Prince obtained the many (MANY) bottles of prescription pills that authorities found inside his home in April of 2016.

As previously reported, the iconic musician was found unconscious in his mansion and pronounced dead shortly afterward.

The DEA found prescription bottles in Prince’s possession at the time, with information later coming out that revealed Prince was prescribed heavy doses of Oxycodone just six days before he passed away.

Just last month, The Associated Press made public a toxicology report that detailed the levels of fentanyl flowing through the star’s body on the day he died.

It now is clear that Prince died as a result of this excessive amount of the aforementioned drug.

It turns out, however, that the artist had been taking counterfeit pills containing the powerful painkiller, unbeknownst to himself at the time.

“Prince had no idea he was taking a counterfeit pill that could kill him,” Metz said.

However, he added that there is no evidence showing just how he obtained these counterfeit pills and, as a result, no one can be held accountable in a legal sense.

Metz did say for certain that Dr. Michael Schulenberg examined Prince around the time of his passing and prescribed percoset for the singer – in another man’s name – which he will be “held accountable for.”

But it is not believed Schulenberg prescribed for Prince the drugs that killed him.

(He will need to pay the government $ 30,000 in fines, though.)

Federal prosecutors and the Drug Enforcement Administration had opened an investigation into how Prince obtained the prescription medication, the agencies confirmed in the past.

Based on court documents from last year, none of the numerous bottles found in Prince’s home were actually in his name.

Some of them were in the name of bodyguard Kirk Johnson, for example.

Metz added it was likely Prince had also taken one of the counterfeit Vicodin when he overdosed on a private jet the week before he died.

He recovered from this incident and even performed a show for fans prior to his demise less than a week later.

It’s all very sad and very confusing.

The bottom line, however, remains the same:

Prince was a man in a lot of pain who went to great lengths in order to obtain heavy doses of medication.

He did so in ways that could not guarantee he always received the right mix of prescription pills.

The musician’s history with opioids was worrisome enough to those around him that, the day before he died, Prince’s team had called an opioid addiction specialist in California seeking urgent help for the star.

Alas, the plan was formulated too late.

We can only hope Prince is now resting in peace.
