Meredith Phillips, Former Bachelorette Star, Says She Was Drugged and Assaulted on Season 2

Meredith Phillips, the star of ABC’s Bachelorette back in 2004, said this week on a podcast that she was drugged and sexually assaulted by a crew member on the set of this long-running ABC reality show.

It’s a damning and troubling accusation.

Per Reality Blured, Phillips made this allegation while speaking to Steve Carbone (aka Reality Steve) in response to a question about the most challenging aspect of production.

“Well, besides being always really tired and some of the producers were – how do I say this? Helpful but not helpful, in terms of trying to make me relax,” Phillips replied, somewhat mysteriously.

She then elaborated:

“Normally, I wouldn’t talk about this, but I’m going to tell you because it’s bothered me for years.

“And I know another friend of mine who was working on the show felt the same experience I did, about getting roofied and in a hot tub and kind of accosted.”

Wait… what? Roofied?

As in: someone drugged Phillips and took advantage of her?

Yes, she says.

The allegedly awful deed was done by “a masseuse that a producer hired to come into my room and to give me a massage,” says Phillips.

The ex-reality star says she assumed the pill this person gave her was an “aspirin or something to loosen up my back.” But…

“It definltey wasn’t that, that’s for sure. The last thing I remember was she got naked and she was in the tub with me, and rubbing my back and rubbing areas probably she shouldn’t have.

“And then I was put in bed. I woke up naked. Don’t remember much.”

Yikes. That’s extremely disturbing to hear.

Phillips, whose season of The Bachelorette was filmed in 2003 and aired in early 2004, said that the experience was “hard for me to talk about because I think I’ve put it somewhere else in my brain.”

She was rejected by Bob Guiney on The Bachelor Season 4, finishing as the third runner-up, prior to starring as The Bachelorette and selecting Ian McKee as her winning suitior.

The couple broke up in February of 2005.

Thinking back on this horrifying incident, Phillips said once whatever she had taken kicked in, “I literally couldn’t even move my body, so I have no idea what the pill was, at all.

“All I know is that I was told that, ‘This will make you feel better.'”

ABC is yet to address this charge, but we’d expect the network to make a statement at some point.

Why didn’t she leave the series after this happened?

There was “definitely a part of me” that wanted to, she acknowledges, “but I am also the kind of person that finishes what she starts…

“It is a huge deal. I have worked through it.”

The story has come out just days before Becca Kufrin debuts as The Bachelorette on Season 14.

Luann de Lesseps: I Think Someone Drugged Me Before My Arrest!

On Christmas Eve of last year, Countess Luann de Lesseps was arrested after allegedly trespassing in the wrong hotel room and kicking a police officer.

She says that her life has improved since her arrest, and a huge part of that has been her changed relationship with alcohol.

Now, as she speaks to Dr. Oz about exactly what she’d had to drink, she suggests that someone may have slipped drugs into her drink.

On Wednesday, Luann sat down with controversial television personality Dr. Oz to discuss what went into her system on that fateful day.

“I had rosé at lunch, with my girlfriend, we split a bottle of Whispering Angel, which is normal.”

Whispering Angel might sound like the name of a lonely smuggler’s spaceship, but it’s just a brand of one of those light pink wines that taste good.

“And then there were some people there that were fans, so they sent me more rosé.”

That was nice of them!

“So I drank more than I usually would.”

But they’re surely not to blame for events that followed.

Luann shares that she and her friend had more to drink.

They stopped, she says, for “not one martini, but two.”

At this point, we’re looking at the better part of a bottle of wine and a couple of martinis. That’s enough to get anyone buzzed, at least.

“So, by the time I get to the Colony, I was pretty sloshed and then I don’t know.”

While it’s possible for a woman Luann’s size to get drunk off of the amount of alcohol that she describes, she wonders if there was an added ingredient that made things worse.

“I almost think that somebody slipped me something, because I don’t remember a thing after that.”

Blacking out is dangerous and scary.

Dr. Oz asks: “Do you consider yourself an alcoholic?”

Luann responds with a lot of honesty.

“You know, that’s a good question. I don’t really know.”

It would be easy to just say “yes” or “no” to please viewers, but she directly explains her thinking.

“I think that I’m a self-medicator, that’s for sure.”

Self-medicating is behind a lot of substance abuse.

Luann explains exactly what was behind her overindulgence in alcohol.

“I think that I was using alcohol to numb my pain and my emotions until it didn’t work for me anymore. Until it got me into a lot of trouble.”

It was, she reveals, a huge wakeup call.

“I live in the moment. I live for today. For today, it’s just … not drinking. And I don’t really want to drink right now.”

This brought on applause fromt he audience.

“I don’t actually need it. I’m better without it. I’m so much better without it.”

Recent photos and videos of her on social media have shown her with water and diet soda.

Did someone slip something into her drink?

Luann is no inexperienced drinker (no shade), so we’d think that she’s mixed wine with martinis before.

There can be other factors — how much you’ve eaten, how much sleep you’ve gotten, and which alcohols you’re consuming — that can alter your experience with drinking for the worse.

We would certainly hope that no one decided to spike her drink, because that would be awful.

It could potentially explain what happened. But so, of course, could the alcohol and emotional distress alone.

(And we wonder if the police tested her for anything other than alcohol at the time)

We’re so glad that she is doing so much better than she was on the day when her insane arrest video was recorded.

Ryan Edwards: Drugged Up by Teen Mom Producers Before Wedding?!

On Monday night’s season finale, Ryan Edwards delivered what may be the most shocking moment in Teen Mom history.

And we’re not even talking about his truly bizarre parking lot wedding to Mackenzie Standifer.

No, we’re talking about the scene that took place on Ryan and Mackenzie’s drive to the wedding — the one where he was straight up nodding off behind the wheel.

We saw Ryan cruising along a highway with Mackenzie sitting on the passenger’s side in her big wedding dress.

His eyes began to close, and when she asked him about it, he said that it was hard for him to see with glare from the sun.

But then he started swerving, his head fell back, and she had to grab the steering wheel to prevent him from crashing.

That would have been horrifying enough, of course, but Mackenzie’s reaction made the whole thing even worse.

Because she didn’t seem alarmed or afraid, nor did she insist that he pull over so she could drive.

She certainly didn’t call off the wedding after he put their lives in danger.

No, instead of doing something reasonable, she just looked angry and hit him when he started nodding off too much.

She also turned off the cameras, because their image is more important than their lives and the lives of the people around them.

But even though she turned off the cameras, she left their microphones alone — so we got to hear her ask him if he’s taken Xanax again.

Then, of course, when they managed to make it to the wedding in one piece, she was beaming while Ryan’s mother was sobbing.

And while Ryan was still nodding off — if you look closely, you can see his eyes are closed through much of the ceremony.

But today we’re going to focus on that terrifying pre-wedding drive.

And how Simon Saran is claiming that an MTV producer supplied Ryan with drugs right before that drive.

“Someone needs to open up an investigation on Kiki giving Ryan pills,” Simon tweeted yesterday.

“It’s really f-cked up! They could have died or killed!”

He’s referring to Teen Mom producer Kiki Malone — and this isn’t the first time he’s accused of her of having something to do with Ryan’s drug use.

Earlier this month, he asked his Twitter followers if he should talk about Kiki “giving Ryan pills during shoots or save that for another day.”

This time around, someone responded to his accusations, telling him that he didn’t actually care about Ryan, he just wanted to distract everyone from how awful Farrah is.

Simon said that he does care, because “I had a close friend die from an idiot under the influence crashing into them as they were talking on the sidewalk.”

As much of a troll as Simon usually is about everyone on Teen Mom, it seems like he does genuinely care about some of the more serious bits of drama from the cast members.

Of course, we don’t know if he’s telling the truth about where Ryan gets his drug supply. Even if he is telling the truth, we have no idea how he’d know in the first place.

But he does have a point: it would be interesting to know how much MTV knew about his drug use prior to that insanely dangerous scene.
