Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard Find New Way to Scam Fans, Get So Much Hate for It

One of the big things people don’t like about Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard is that despite being on a big TV show for years, they still beg their fans for money.

That and all the bigotry, those are the two big things.

It’s just always been so bizarre, because you’d think that the money they made from the show would be more than enough to support them and all their endeavors, at least for a little while longer.

If nothing else, Jim Bob owns a fleet of private planes, it seems like he could give them a hand if they were struggling that much.

But regardless of what you’d think or how things seem, the fact remains that there have been several occasions when the Dillards reached out to their supporters for some cash assistance.

And that’s weird.

After getting lots and lots of criticism for all their GoFundMe stunts over the years, and after failing to convince people that they’re just regular missionaries and that’s how things are done, they’ve given up with the fundraisers, for now, anyway.

However, Derick did get the family fired from reality television, so you have to make ends somehow, you know?

Well, it looks like they’ve come up with a new plan!

There’s this foundation called The Tuttle Twins, and they release books for children about things like politics and history — books that the Duggars would enjoy.

As the foundation explains on its website, “Each year, hundreds of millions of children are spoon-fed false history, bad economics, and logical fallacies. Your child is not immune.”

They say their books are a way for parents to “inoculate their children against this trend to help them really grasp the importance of freedom and free markets.”

So we’re sure the books are fine and correct and not at all terrifying.

Anyway, The Tuttle Twins is holding this contest on their Facebook page where you share a picture of your kid with one of their books, and if your picture gets the most likes and shares, you win a cash prize of $ 350.

You can see where this is going, right?

Jill, who had to know that she has a massively unfair advantage with this kind of thing, entered the contest with this picture of Israel, and just to make sure she gets all those likes, she made sure she was in the photo, too.

So far, Jill has far more likes than anyone else in the contest, and there’s really no way that she won’t win.

It’s really a shame.

There are plenty of families who could legitimately use $ 350, and for Jill to take that opportunity away from those people is just sad.

And lots of people seem to agree.

“Completely unfair that this picture was allowed,” one person commented on the photo. “Until recently Jill Duggar Dillard has appeared on TLC for many years. Shame on her for using her celebrity to win a contest with money as a prize.”

Another person wrote that she shouldn’t be eligible for the contest because “no one stands a chance against her and that’s really not OK.”

“Jill Duggar is using her fame as a public figure to garner more votes for her son, which is NOT fair to all the other entrants who don’t have their names and faces plastered all over the place,” yet another Duggar critic wrote.

“Jill should withdraw her entry, and she should be disqualified.”

She should, but she won’t — instead, she’s been posting the link to the photo on her Twitter and Instagram accounts and asking everyone to “help Israel win!”

The foundation won’t intervene either, because as they explained to their many outraged followers, “We are not going to disqualify somebody merely because they have a larger social network.”

Subtext: “we are not going to disqualify somebody merely because they have a larger social network because this mess is getting us a whole lot attention and we are living for it.”

Hope Jill does something neat with that cash prize!

Duggar Family: Under Fire For Condoning Child Abuse

When Joy-Anna Duggar married Austin Forsyth back in May, very little was known about Austin’s family.

Duggar obsessives did some digging – as they’re wont to do – and for the most part, what they found was not surprising.

As is the case with most Duggar in-laws, Austin comes from a family that’s very similar to the one he married into.

Like Jim Bob and Michelle, Austin’s parents are deeply religious and extremely conservative.

And the similarities don’t end there.

Both families subscribe to some esoteric and highly controversial beliefs, including the conviction that it’s their God-given duty to have as many children as possible – and to raise those children in an extremely strict fashion.

Over the years, the Duggars have been chastised for their support of parenting techniques that have been derided as violent and barbaric.

Many of their more controversial practices come from a scandalous parenting guide by authors Michael and Debi Pearl, entitled To Train Up a Child.

In addition to their support for “blanket training” and other forms of harsh corporal punishment adopted by the Duggars, the Pearls advocate other techniques that many regard as abusive, including using forced “fasting” as a means of punishment:

“A little fasting is good training,” the book reads.

“If you get a child who is particularly finicky and only eats a limited diet, then feed him mainly what he doesn’t like until he likes it.”

Within a year of the book’s publication, copies of To Train Up a Child were found in the homes of three different who died from child abuse.

Needless to say, unlike the time Jessa Duggar put a tortilla on her son’s head, this is a serious matter, and outrage from Duggar fans is fully warranted.

Perhaps that’s why the Duggars distanced themselves from the Pearl’s teachings – until recently.

As Counting On viewers are aware, the Forsyths own a campground in rural Arkansas that caters to families and religious groups.

Next month, the camp will host the annual Big Sandy Family Conference, a massive gathering of fundamentalist Christian families.

“Whether making new friendships with other families or rekindling relationships from previous years, the conference is an annual highlight for many,” reads an advertisement on the Forsyth’s website.

It all sounds innocent enough, but as many fans have noticed, the conference will feature appearances by Jim Bob and Michelle – as well as the Pearls.

“The Duggars humbly share their joys and trials, desiring to minister to other families who desire God’s best, even when their lives take unexpected turns,” reads a brief write-up about the Duggars on the campground’s website.

Jim Bob and Michelle’s message is still the same: trust in the Lord.”

The portion about the Pearls is even shorter and identifies them as the authors of several bestselling books.

While it seems that the Forsyths are trying to downplay both the Pearls’ controversial teachings and the couple’s connection to the Duggars, fans were quick to cry foul.

“I don’t believe in abusing children so I would never go to hear the Pearls,” one fan commented on the Duggars’ Facebook post about the event.

Several others echoed the sentiment, and those who were unaware that Michelle condoned such abusive techniques as blanket training were quick to express shock.

Needless to say, the Duggars will probably soon regret re-associating with the Pearls.

Unfortunately, it’s probably too late to pull out of the Forsyths big event.

The Duggar Family: Raking in Money with Instagram Ads!

The Duggar family is rich. Jim Bob made his fortune through real estate investments, and after all of their reality television ups and downs, he's worth over $ 3 million.

But 19 Kids and Counting isn't on television anymore, and Counting On doesn't rake in the same kind of money. But this family of over 30 members has found another revenue stream.

Fans believe that the Duggars are engaging in Instagram ads, like so many other reality stars.

Curiously, they don't seem to tag what appear to be product endorsements — usually of food — as #ads, but these posts are not subtle. At all.

Perhaps the Duggars are violating FTC regulations because they believe that they're above secular laws.

It's possible that they're just getting free products, but the volume of the posts seems to indicate to some fans that the Duggars must be getting paid for these promotions.

Take a look:

1. First of all, the Duggars LOVE Chick-fil-A

Duggars at chick fil a
They’re not even remotely subtle about it. This strikes many fans as a clear sign that they’re getting more than just free food out of this deal.

2. There’s a difference betwen Instagramming your meal …

Joy anna duggar with jill and derick
… And product placement. This, folks, looks like a straight-up endorsement to many Duggar fans.

3. Even Josh Duggar’s gotten in on the action

Josh duggar chick fil a photo
Which, you know, kind of reads like a Jared from Subway situation. But since these are unofficial ads, Chick-fil-A has avoided the backlash.

4. But the Duggars love more than just one restaurant that fits their brand

Jill Duggar tagged this whole milk brand in her captions, and alert fans note that it all really looks like a paid endorsement.

5. Derick helps out with these alleged promotions, too

Derick dillard and jill duggar on instagram
You know, Derick claimed that they don’t get paid for their roles on Counting On, so plugging a restaurant is certainly one way to make money. When fans get wise to your dubious requests for “mission funds,” that is.

6. Not the worst thing that we’ve seen in an IHOP parking lot…

Not only did they photograph themselves standing in front of the restaurant, they heaped praises on how affordable it was for their family to eat there.

Josh Duggar to Police: Your Molestation Reports Humiliated Me!

Josh Duggar will soon be back in court.

Sadly, however, it’s not because he’s finally facing criminal charges for molesting five young girls, four of whom were forced to live under the same roof with him even after they were violated.

No, it seems Josh is once again suing the people who dared to expose his vile crimes to the public.

According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup lawsuit against the City of Springdale (as well as Arkansas’ Washington County), arguing that they violated his rights when they released documents pertaining to his crimes to In Touch Weekly back in 2015.

Josh sued the police in his hometown last year and lost, but it seems he’s decided to give it another go.

If the idea of a sexual predator accusing other people of humiliation makes you want to hurl your phone or tablet across the room, take heart in knowing that Josh will almost certainly lose this lawsuit.

Better yet, he may cause even further embarrassment to his complicit parents

You might think it’s odd that Josh would once again dredge up the scandal that nearly destroyed his family just so that the court might award him some cash, but these days, it’s likely that Josh needs money more than he needs his Michelle and Jim Bob’s approval.

Sources say Josh lives in virtual exile these days, spending most of the toiling on a used car lot, and his Sundays worshipping at a different church than the rest of his family attends.

(And if you’re a longtime fan of the Duggar clan, we don’t need to tell you what a big deal that is!)

So what’s the basis for Josh’s claim that he’s the wronged party here?

Well, for starters, he infuriating argues in court documents that because he was still in his teens at the time of the assaults “not in possession of the full faculties of personal discretion and discernment typically available to an adult.”

He adds that the release of his police records caused “severe emotional distress, mental anguish and substantial loss of income.”

Josh was kicked off Counting On as a result of the scandal, so he might be able to make an argument for loss of income.

But he should still be counting his lucky stars,

After all, the emotional distress and mental anguish of going to prison and registering as a sex offender probably would’ve been even worse, right?

Jessa Duggar: ACTUALLY Pregnant With Third Child?!

Lately, speculation that Jessa Duggar is pregnant with her third child has been running rampant amongst fans of her famous family.

But as the weeks and months fly by with no word from Jessa or her husband, Ben Seewald, it begins to seem less and less likely that there’s any truth to the reports.

After all, pregnancy news is the Duggars’ bread and butter.

Generally, expectant Duggar moms can’t wait to share the news with fans.

So why would Jessa and Ben keep their big news under wraps?

Obviously, the fans simply got it wrong this time, right?

Well, not necessarily …

“Jessa is definitely pregnant and will be making an announcement in April,” a source close to the family tells In Touch.

As for why the Seewalds would be so hesitant to share the news publicly, the insider says there’s a perfectly good reason for that:

“They have been keeping the news under wraps, partly because it was in the early stages and also because she did not want to take away from the news that her brother Josiah [Duggar] and Lauren [Swanson] are getting married,” the tipster claims.

Yes, it seems in an act of sisterly love (and media savvy), Jessa decided that it’s best not to overwhelm social media with a deluge of Duggar news.

And there’s certainly been no shortage of developments to keep the family’s most obsessive followers satisfied.

As many have pointed out, if the news about Jessa is true, that would mean she learned she’s expecting not long after the world found out that Jinger Duggar is pregnant.

Jinger is five months along, which means we could be looking at back-to-back Duggar births less than a month apart.

And of course, Josiah and Lauren are engaged, which means a wedding is likely on the agenda for this summer as well.

We suppose this steady stream of developments was to be expected as the eldest Duggars reached marrying and child-bearing age, but still – even Jim Bob and Michelle must be starting to feel overwhelmed.

Josiah Duggar: Why Did He Break Up With Marjorie Jackson?!

These days, Josiah Duggar is engaged to Lauren Swanson, and the young couple appears to be head-over-heels for one another.

But Josiah’s love life hasn’t been all smooth sailing.

Before Lauren came along, Josiah courted Marjorie Jackson, and while the vast majority of Duggar courtships result in marriage, the short-lived relationship between Josiah and Marjorie ended abruptly and without explanation.

To this day, little is known about the exact reason that Josiah and Marjorie called it quits, and many fans are stll intrigued.

After all, a Duggar courtship is unlike most other romantic relationships.

The Duggars describe courting as “dating with a purpose” – and that purpose is not companionship, but procreation.

Jim Bob and Michelle discourage their kids from entering courtships until they’re certain their partner is someone they could imagine marrying and having kids with.

So breakups are extremely rare, and it’s even more rare for courtships to end the way that Josiah and Marjorie’s ended.

Just weeks after the couple loudly and proudly announced their courtship on the Duggars’ official Facebook page, they very quetly went their separate ways.

Fans only realized the relationship had come to an end when they noticed that all of the photos of Marjorie had been deleted from Josiah’s Instagram page.

So what exactly led these two to the surprsing decision to break up?

Well, they’ve both been hesitant to speak about it publicly, but Josiah shed some light on the decision in his last interview before he met Lauren.

“Marjorie and I had a good time together. We were just trying to follow God’s lead on everything,” he said of the split, according to In Touch Weekly.

“She didn’t feel that it was the right timing then, so we called it quits for a bit.”

Interestingly, Josiah concluded the interview with a comment that many interpreted as an admission of fault – as well as a

“We have time to grow … you never know… But when you think about a girl to marry, you ask what kind of guy she would want to marry and you try to be that kind of guy.”

After Josiah’s interview, the Duggars issued a brief statement to People magazine:

“A few weeks ago Marjorie and Josiah agreed to end their courtship, keeping in step with what they believe the Lord’s will is,” the statement read.

“Both are thankful for the time getting to know each other, and their families continue to enjoy each other’s company and close friendship.”

And that’s likely all the information we’ll ever get on the subject.

As soon as the Josiah-Marjorie courship began, it became clear that Josiah would not be opening up about his orevious relationship any further.

There was a talk of Marjorie writing a tell-all about her time with the Duggars, but the book never materialized.

We guess fans will simply have to continue speculating wildly about the reasons the couple called it quits!

Duggar Girls to Fans: If You Have Premarital Sex, You Will DIE!

The Duggar kids have all been homeschooled, and now we’re getting a sense of what health class was like on the compound.

Not surprisingly, it seems Jim Bob and Michelle weren’t above using scare tactics when it came to dissuading their children from engaging in premarital sex.

The Duggar courtship rules are notorious for strictly prohibiting virtually all forms of physical contact before marriage.

The threat of eternal damnation is the primary deterrent that causes unmarried Duggar couples to stick to hand-holding and side-hugs.

But it seems that in order to make doubly sure that they’re able to resist temptation, the family also frightens hormonal young people with more earthly dangers.

In Touch Weekly has unearthed an excerpt from the 2014 memoir Growing Up Duggar, in which Jana, Jill, Jessa and Jinger talk fearfully of the sexually transmitted diseases that await those who are unable to hold off until marriage:

“God has created physical intimacy to be a wonderful wedding gift for pleasure and bonding and to procreate children, but if it is done prematurely or with multiple partners, the very thing that was created to bring joy can bring sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV, herpes, and human papillomavirus (HPV), which can cause infertility, cervical cancer, and a life sentence of pain and suffering,” the girls write.

“HPV is just one of many sexually transmitted viruses, but it has recently become a notorious killer of women. According to the National Cancer Institute, ‘Virtually all cervical cancers are caused by HPV infections,'” the excerpt continued.

“The American Cancer Society estimates that 4,030 women will die from cervical cancer this year. STDs like HPV also carry a high risk of being passed on to loved ones, including the woman’s husband or her children,” the Duggars added, just in case your genitals were not yet sufficiently terrified.

Of course, it’s possible to have safe premarital sex, but don’t tell that to the Duggar gals, who seem to have pretty much made up their minds that it results in instant death.

The emphasis on HPV is particularly strange, as while the disease is fairly common, in most cases, it doesn’t result in any symptoms:

“In most cases, HPV goes away on its own and does not cause any health problems,” the CDC states.

Really, the need to convince young fans of the physical dangers of premarital sex is strange, as anyone reading a Duggar bio is probably pretty all-in on all that “after-life” and “vengeful God” business.

Just assuring them they’ll burn in hell is probably sufficient when it comes to scaring them into keeping their knees together.

But hey, maybe the Duggars believe that frightening people away from premarital sex is a lot like premarital sex itself – you can never be too safe.

Anyway, we suppose the method has proven effective.

While there may have been some “shotgun wedding” rumors about Joy-Anna, it seems the Duggar women have thus far all abstained from sex before marriage.

The Duggar men, on the other hand … well, that’s a different story.

Derick Dillard: Jim Bob Duggar Kept All Our TV Money!

Folks, it looks like the inevitable unraveling of the Duggar clan might finally be underway.

And like so many major events of the modern age, it started not with a bang … but with a deleted tweet.

As you may already know, Derick Dillard was fired by TLC back in November after launching a bigoted twitter tirade against fellow network star Jazz Jennings.

You would think that after all that, Derick would have learned a valuable lesson about running his mouth on social media, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Last week, Derick went on yet another tirade, and this time it appeared he was hell-bent on biting the hand that used to feed him.

In a series of tweets (some of which were quickly deleted), Derick attacked TLC for refusing to pay his son’s medical bills after baby Samuel spent two weeks in the NICU.

Derick’s reasoning was that since the birth was featured on Counting On, the network should have helped cover expenses.

“We even requested that they help with some of the medical expenses from the birth that they made a pretty penny on, but they refused to help cover any of those costs,” Derick tweeted.

“We could pay for it fine; I had a great job,” he continued.

“The point is, I thought that at least since they were making money off the birth special episode, they could help soften the burden a little.”

When fans pointed out that Derick and wife Jill Duggar were paid for their appearances on the show and thus were entitled to no further compensation, the former reality star dropped a bombshell that left fans stunned:

“As far as we could tell we were volunteers and hadn’t been paid anything for the show,” he wrote.

“Like I said, for the year we were paying off our son’s birth expenses, both Jill and I thought we had been volunteering our time to help out [the show].”

Volunteering?! Is Derick seriously suggesting that he and Jill weren’t compensated by producers?

And if that’s the case, was anyone in th family paid a salary?

The answers, according to Derick, are yes and yes:

“TLC should approach all adults if they expect any obligation from them, so they can evaluate their own situation,” Dillard tweeted.

“Like I said, until recently, I assumed we were just volunteering to help out in filming where it would help out.

“I knew they didn’t owe anything but I didn’t think it was unreasonable to request some expense reimbursement under the impression we volunteered all the time.”

There’s that “volunteer” word again.

Derick chose not to answer direct questions about who did receive money from the network, but he made no effort to correct fans who speculated that Jim Bob was the only one getting rich.

“[The producers] were always asking for our time, so it seemed like a lucrative trade on their part, to make all the money they did and only be requested to help cover some expense,” he reiterated at one point.

“We paid it, but it seemed like a reasonable trade to request, considering what they asked of us.”

Asked why in the hell he would agree to put his life on television for free, Derick replied:

“There is too little space and time on Twitter to explain my whole thought process over the course of the past 4+ years, but the point is, TLC should have handled all of it much differently,” he tweeted.

“Doing the right thing should be more important than taking the path of least resistance.”

In other words, “Jim Bob made me do it.”

Counting On Recap: Joe Duggar Cannot Wait to Bone Kendra Caldwell!

This week on Counting On, Kendra Caldwell headed to Kentucky to pick out her wedding dress in anticipation of her special day.

She and her husband-to-be were also focused on other aspects of tying the knot, though … specifically what comes after that.

As Joseph Duggar and Kendra’s wedding day quickly approached on Counting On Season 6 Episode 3, the anticipation began to build.

Sexually. We’re talking about temptation.

Yes, the couple’s sexual desires were running ever so high as they geared up for their impending nuptials, but this is par for the course.

In this family, patience is a virtue.

Joe’s sister Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth, her husband, interestingly talked about getting through the challenges of waiting.

It was this couple that allegedly engaged in massive amounts of courtship rule-breaking and didn’t delay physical intimacy until marriage.

Of course, a lot of that speculation was just that – speculation. Talk of Joy-Anna having premarital sex made for great gossip, but that’s it.

The birth of Joy and Austin’s son Gideon did nothing to disprove her consistent claim that the couple got pregnant on their honeymoon.

In any case, Joe confessed to Austin that as he gets closer and closer to his wedding day, it’s impossible not to think about Kendra.

He means in a sexual manner.

“I spend the evenings with Kendra and then during the day I’m just working. It keeps me busy and not thinking about it,” Joe admitted.

The 23-year-old Joseph later added that “Joy and Austin have been a great example for us as far as relationships.”

“They say when you get closer to the wedding it’s always so much harder,” he said, and in his estimation, “it’s true.”

For her part, Kendra chimed in:

“You just start loving each other more and more and you just get excited about the wedding but I think having chaperones allows us not to fall.”

Joe spoke about the “physical boundaries” he and Kendra set, and they are strict … think side hugs and not a whole lot else.

“We’re not kissing before we get married, we’re just saving ourselves for each other,” he explained, and that’s not out of the ordinary.

The Duggars’ upbringing basically forbids all types of contact pre-engagement and marriage, even unsupervised alone time.

Of course, without a lot of practice beforehand, there’s going to be a learning curve of sorts after they do finally get married.

Not that he’s not up for the challenge.

Challenges and lessons don’t get much more entertaining than this one, and besides, his siblings seem to have figured it out.

Still, a Counting On producer continued to press them on the subject, probing for cringe-worthy details and asking awkwardly:

“What have you guys done to prepare yourselves for the physical side of marriage, as far as education on such things?”

Joe’s response?

“At this point, we figure that we don’t have to educate ourselves completely … if we had questions we can ask people who we trust.”

“I know there’s a lot of books out there, a lot of things you can read,” he said, though it’s unclear what things he meant.

Given the family’s limits on media consumption (see below), we’d be interested to see the reading material in question.

It’s a moot point anyway.

“We don’t want to make it harder on ourselves thinking about all the things we can’t actually carry out,” Duggar added.

“Also, I think that in marriage, I think it’ll be fun understanding more as we go along and just learn together.”

Clearly it worked out in the end.

Soon after their wedding – VERY soon after their wedding – we learned that Kendra Caldwell is pregnant with their first child.

Who needs books anyway?!

Jinger Duggar Flaunts Baby Bump, Shares Parenting Advice on Instagram

As you’ve likely heard by now, Jinger Duggar is expecting her first child.

For the most obsessive fans of her famous family, the news of Jinger’s pregnancy was a long time coming.

After all, Jinger was married to Jeremy Vuolo for more than a year before she announced that she has a bun in the oven.

That timeline might make perfect sense for most people, but Duggar women frequently get knocked up on their honeymoons.

Of course, Jinger has always been her family’s resident rebel, as evidenced by the fact that she was the first female of her generation to wear pants in public.

(Duggar women are typically limited to floor-length skirts, even while playing sports or engaging in other physical activities.)

So it’s not terribly surprising that when it comes to starting a family, Jinger has decided to dance to the beat of her own drummer.

Jinger Duggar and Friend

And when it comes to parenting advice, she’s also bucking tradition by accepting input from outside her own family.

Jinger and Jeremy were in Los Angeles over the weekend for an event called the Shepherds’ Conference, a gathering of male Christian leaders.

Jeremy posted the above photo of his wife sitting next to a family friend named Emma Hatter.

“‘The days are long, but the years are short.’ Wise words to my beautiful wife from Emma Hatter, a dear member of @gracecomchurch for 50 years,” Jeremy captioned the photo.

The quote, from author Gretchen Rubin, was apparently Hatter’s response to Jinger and Jeremy’s request for parenting advice.

The words of wisdom have become a popular way of reminding new parents to cherish their time with their young children.

Particularly in the era of mobile devices and social media, it can be easy to forget that what really matters is face-to-face time with loved ones.

For all their many controversial parenting techniques, the Duggars deserve a tip of the hat for prioritizing family time over screen time.

Of course, when you star on a reality show with your parents and siblings, family time often is screen time.
