Catelynn Lowell Reveals the Real Reason She Checked Into Rehab

On Twitter, Catelynn Lowell has been celebrating her sobriety. She says that she’s been sober for months, now.

But on Teen Mom OG, which is filmed earlier, she’s still in the process of explaining to her husband why she needs to go to rehab in the first place.

She lays out those reasons very clearly.

On Monday’s episode of Teen Mom OG, Catelynn Lowell explained to her husband, Tyler Baltierra, exactly why she had to return to rehab.

“It’s nothing to do with you, Tyler. It’s my inner child s–t. I’m telling you right now, it’s nothing to do with what you do.”

Of course it isn’t his fault, but it’s sad that her childhood is still plaguing her as an adult. That is far too common.

And she cites some specific traumas that continue to haunt her.

“It’s me being a f–king 12-year-old and my dad leaving or me being, like, 8 and my mom drinking all the time and not being there.”

That is just heartbreaking.

“It’s my own s–t. It’s just coming out when things go on in life.”

Catelynn continues, saying:

“That’s how trauma works.”

She’s exactly right.

And she did a better and more succinct job of explaining how trauma in childhood can contribute to things like alcohol abuse as an adult than plenty of experts.

She then went on to assure husband Tyler Baltierra that, of course, her entering rehab did not reflect on him.

“It’s nothing to do with you, you’re awesome. You’re supportive.”

Catelynn Sobriety Tweets 01

After Catelynn Lowell tweeted her support for fellow Teen Mom star Amber Portwood, someone on Twitter nastily chose to characterize the two of them as “drug addicts.”

Catelynn’s response was positively classy, as she wrote:

“We’re not drug addicts but whatever helps you sleep at night.”

She went on to celebrate her enduring sobriety, responding to a much more polite fan’s question by writing:

“Been sober for going on 5 months.”

One fan — very politely — asked for clarification, wanting to know if Catelynn was using the term “sober” under the strictest terms or if she meant from all mind-altering substances.

Catelynn clarified that she had even quit using marijuana.

Though marijuana is widely regarded to be safe by the medical community, it can sometimes be used as a “crutch” to avoid processing emotions.

Some find that long-term use can exacerbate whatever issues they were trying to avoid.

Unfortunately, sometimes people find that they have to face their problems instead of self-medicating for them.

Catelynn found that she’d seen an improvement once she’d cut off all substances that let her distance herself from her own thoughts.

Can we just acknowledge for a moment that it is deeply refreshing to hear someone explain trauma and its long-term effects and the role that it plays in addiction?

Most people are accustomed to hearing that spelled out in wildly clinical terms.

We have to wonder how many viewers sat there are listened to Catelynn talk and faced sudden realizations about what had led to their own behaviors.

Watch Teen Mom online if you want to continue to keep up with Catelynn’s struggle.

Jinger Duggar Reveals Baby Gender: She’s Having a…

Over the past few weeks, Jinger Duggar has shared numerous updates about the size of her impending baby.

At 20 weeks, it was akin to an artichoke. At 22 weeks, a bell pepper. At 25 weeks, a cauliflower.

But the reality star has now taken a break from comparing her fetus to various kinds of food items and instead shared a different sort of tidbit about the child…

… it’s gender!

Indeed, following months of anticipation by Duggar family fans ever since Jinger and Jeremy Vuolvo announced they were expecting in January, we finally know exactly what they are expecting.

So, which will it be? A boy or a girl?!?!?

Cue a drumroll in your head and scroll immediately down for the answer.

The baby will be a…

… GIRL!!!!!!!!

According to People Magazine, Jinger and Jeremy revealed this piece of news in exciting and unusual fashion:

They set up a relay race in Laredo, Texas and asked it to be completed by friends and family members.

Wait, what? Huh?!? We can explain:

The couple split their loved ones into a pink team and a blue team.

One by one, an individual on each team had to eat a single serve container of ice cream prior to running the obstacle course.

The captain of the first team to finish the race then had the honor of flipping the switch on a “Baby” neon light, revealing the gender, while Jinger and Jeremy sprayed everyone with pink silly string.

That’s, ummm, different.

“We are so happy to announce that we are having a little baby girl!” the TLC personality tell People, adding:

“We could not be more excited and are eagerly anticipating meeting our little lady this summer.

“We especially love thinking forward and realizing that she will have excellent role models in both of her grandmothers, who cannot wait to shower her with love.”

Instagram followers last week thought that Jinger was set to welcome a boy because she wrote the word “baby” in blue on a chalkboard, as you can see below.

Alas, it will be the complete opposite of a boy. Surprise!

Jinger and Jeremy told the world early on this year that they were expecting their first child together, about 14 months after getting married.

This is what they said at the time:

The past fourteen months have been the best of our lives as we have had the wonderful privilege of beginning our journey through life together in marriage.

We both looked forward to the joys of marriage but neither one of us fully understood just how amazing the start of this journey would be. Truly, the Lord’s mercies are new every morning!

Now, the journey has taken an exciting turn: we are expecting our first child!

We are praising God for this beautiful gift and ask that you join us in praying for a safe and healthy pregnancy

Psalm 139:13-14 13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

In an earlier video for TLC, Jinger and Jeremy had said they’d be “happy either way,” whether the kid was male or female.

This, of course, is the right attitude.

All that really matters in the end, after all, is that they keep the kid away from Josh Duggar.

Far, far, far, FAR away,

Amber Portwood Reveals Due Date, Has Doubts About Andrew Glennon

If you’re a Teen Mom OG fan, then by now, you’ve likely heard the news Amber Portwood is pregnant with her second child.

The news came just weeks after the world learned that Amber is dating Andrew Glennon, a reality TV producer she met on the set of Marriage Boot Camp – while she was still in a relationship with Matt Baier.

Now, Amber has given her most candid interview yet on the subject of her whirlwind romance and surprise pregnancy, and it seems she shares the opinion held by many fans that she probably should have taken things a bit slower.

Speaking with E! News, Amber opened up in one of the most candid interviews of her career.

“His name is James Andrew Glennon,” Portwood said of her forthcoming bundle of joy.

She cited his due date as “one day before my birthday,” which would make it May 13.

Amber says she’s incredibly excited about her future with her new family … but she admits she and Andrew may have moved a bit too fast.

“The best thing that came out of [the show was] meeting Andrew,” she said of her experience on Marriage Boot Camp.

“He makes me the happiest.”

Asked about the possibility that she and Glennon might get married after the baby arrives, however, Amber is quick to slam on the brakes.

“We’re not talking about that,” she tells the outlet.

“Right now, we’re happily living together and seeing where everything goes.”

She then concedes that it’s a bit late to think about taking things slowly.

“Obviously, we jumped the gun and we’re having a baby, but I don’t know,” Portwood says.

“He drops little hints here and there about things, but we haven’t necessarily talked about it.”

In other words, Glennon badly wants to get married (dude did quit his job in LA to move to Indiana, after all) but Amber is a bit more hesitant.

We guess we can’t blame her after her disastrous engagement to Matt Baier, but like it or not, she’s tied to Andrew for life at this point anyway.

Watch Teen Mom OG online to relive Amber’s long history of questionable decisions.

Dwayne Johnson Reveals Depression Battle, Mother’s Suicide Attempt

Depression is an illness that millions battle, and it can involve a powerful hereditary component. Some feel that it’s like a family curse.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the legendary wrestler-turned-actor known for his sunny disposition and affection for his fans, is opening up about his own experiences with depression.

And revealing that he nearly lost his mother to suicide.

As part of his press tour for Rampage, Johnson opened up in an interview with Express about his secret battle with depression.

And he describes a horrifying moment when, at 15, he nearly lost his mother, Ata.

“She got out of the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic.”

That is absolutely horrifying. Fortunately, he was able to save her life at the time.

“I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road.”

Though Johnson was already tall and muscular at 15, that’s a heartbreaking scenario for anyone to face with their own mother — particularly when that person is only a teenager.

“What’s crazy about that suicide attempt is that to this day, she has no recollection of it whatsoever. Probably best she doesn’t.”

Depression can impair memory.

Johnson then goes on to reveal how this has impacted him even more personally.

“Struggle and pain is real. I was devastated and depressed.”

And he describes some tell-tale symptoms of depression.

“I reached a point where I didn’t want to do a thing or go anywhere. I was crying constantly.”

Depression robs people of the ability to enjoy their favorite activities, and can also release inhibitions on the expression of certain negative emotions.

He shares that he and his mother were eventually able to manage their depression.

“We both healed but we’ve always got to do our best to pay attention when other people are in pain.”

But he believes that outreach from people who understand can be the key to helping.

“We have to help them through it and remind them they are not alone.”

Johnson has hinted at this struggle in the past.

Once, a fan confessed over social media that they struggled with depression.

Johnson responded at the time, saying:

“I hear you. I’ve battled that beast more than once.”

It’s one thing to have sympathy for a fan for what they’re going to and to then publicly express that. It’s another to share your personal pain to let them know how well you understand their struggle.

Johnson is expecting his second child with his wife, Lauren Hashian.

This beloved actor is cherished by fans for his forthrightness, his ever-present smile, and for destroying stereotypes that say that men with hyper-masculine builds can’t express tenderness, joy, or vulnerability.

His fans adore him with good reason. Since Johnson has threatened to run for President in the past, some people wonder if he might actually have enough popularity and public support to get on a ballot.

Not everyone — even his fans — agree with some of his politics.

But if this last year or so has taught us anything, it’s that America could do far, far worse than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
