Shawn Stockman in no way, shape or form has reached the end of the road with Boyz II Men now that he’s gone solo, and anyone asking — like our camera guy — better check themselves. We got Shawn at LAX Thursday and congratulated him on…
As you’ve likely heard by now, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got engaged last week after just over a month of dating.
At first, it seemed impossible, but Bieber and Baldwin have confirmed the news by posting a series of loving tributes to one another on social media.
Of course, it’s not all sunshine and unicorns in Jusley’s world these days.
When a high-profile couple gets engaged after short a brief courtship, things can get messy.
One of the biggest problems, of course, is the fact that both parties are likely to have very recent exes.
And the more recent an ex, the more likely they are to be a source of drama.
Which may be why Justin is taking no chances.
According to Life & Style, Bieber has asked Baldwin to delete all traces of her ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes from her social media accounts.
“Shawn is happy for Hailey and Justin and has said that he loves them both, but Justin isn’t taking any chances,” a source tells the tabloid.
“Justin wants to take his relationship with Hailey to the next level, but he can’t do that until he feels confident she isn’t pining for someone else.”
Seems like he already took care of getting to the next level by popping the question, but we guess the Biebs likes to be extremely thorough.
“Erasing every trace of Shawn on her social media was a way for Hailey to prove her loyalty,” the insider added.
“And she had no problem pressing delete.”
Rumors about Bieber “forcing” Baldwin to delete Mendes from her life have been circulating for weeks.
In a twist that no one saw coming, it seems that those reports are accurate, and Justin has absolutely no shame about issuing the demand.
As for that other famous in this scenario, sources say Selena Gomez is glad to be rid of Justin for good.
She apparently harbors no ill will toward Baldwin, but instead feels sympathy for the 21-year-old model.
If the Jelena relationship is any indication, Gomez is right to feel bad for Hailey.
The girl may be in for quite a wild ride.
In recent weeks, Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber have been seemingly inseparable. These two exes are back together and even going on church dates.
Even though they’re exes with their own baggage, things don’t seem that dramatic between them.
So why has Hailey very suddenly deleted every photo of rumored ex Shawn Mendes from her Instagram? What the hell happened?
In the final months of 2017, it appeared that Hailey Baldwin and Shawn Mendes were dating.
At least, witnesses saw them cozying up and were at a loss for any other explanation.
Some believed that it was a real relationship that fizzled out behind the scenes.
Others believed that Hailey was deliberately stirring those rumors to help shelter Shawn from the persistent gay rumors that have followed him for a few years now.
Regardless, Shawn and Hailey remained friends. They even attended the 2018 Met Gala together, making it clear at the time that they were just good friends with similar values.
But friends don’t purge every single photo of the other from Instagram.
Ever-vigilant fans have noticed that every photo featuring Shawn Mendes has mysteriously vanished from Hailey’s Instagram page.
They note that the two still follow each other.
They also note that Shawn has made no move to purge photos of Hailey — not yet, anyway.
Did something happen between these two to make their friendship turn sour — at least from Hailey’s perspective?
if so, it must have been something pretty major for Hailey to make such a public show of excising Shawn from her social media history.
There was zero chance that her 12.4 million followers were going to all somehow not notice.
Some wonder if this might have less to do with Shawn and Hailey … and more to do with Justin Bieber.
Shawn Mendes is the talk of the town in terms of mustic but also in terms of thirst.
Shawn is 19. His career is on the rise.
In contrast, Justin Bieber is 24, he canceled his tour last year for vague religious reasons, and posters of his tattoo-covered body aren’t exactly plastered across millions of bedroom walls these days.
It probably doesn’t help that Shawn is a respectable 6-foot-2 while Justin, who has always been insecure about his height, is still only 5-foot-9.
When one considers that Justin keeps an eye on his exes — as he did on Selena — one can’t help but wonder if he felt stabs of jealousy when he saw Hailey on Shawn’s arm.
Did he … make Hailey delete her photos of Shawn?
There is no longer any real doubt that Justin and Hailey are back together.
So it is hard for many to imagine that Justin didn’t play some sort of role in this IG purge.
Is he making demands of Hailey that she prove that she doesn’t have her eye on any other boys?
Or does Justin have some sort of beef with Shawn, specifically?
That is so, so difficult to guess.
For what it’s worth, however, Shawn Mendes has been publicly supportive of Hailey, including when she reunited with old flame Justin Bieber.
On the Canadian entertainment show, ETALK, Shawn commented directly on Hailey hooking up with Justin again.
“I think that’s awesome,” Shawn said. “I love them both. They’re both really awesome people.”
In the past, even going back a couple of years, Shawn has said that he is flattered by comparisons to Justin Bieber.
(In the autumn of 2016, he did do some impressions of the Biebs, but he meant it in a friendly way)
Perhaps Justin doesn’t share Shawn’s friendly attitude?
Or perhaps there is something totally different going on behind the scenes, and we just don’t have enough of the pieces to see it.
The Billboard Music Awards were Sunday night, and the evening was riddled with powerful performances. Ariana Grande's evocative opening act set the tone for the evening.
But Shawn Mendes put on "Youth" as a tribute to the victims and survivors of tragic school shootings.
As you can see in the video that we have included, he had help — from fellow singer Khalid, and from surviving students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Shawn Mendes is 19 years old, so he doesn't just have to relate to teenagers — he is one.
Though he also performed "In My Blood," which was much more upbeat and designed to please the crowd, when he and Khalid got up and sang "Youth," it was a clear tribute to both survivors and victims of school shootings.
And many read it as an indictment of the numerous politicians and special interests who are fighting gun reform efforts that could save countless innocent lives.
But in case it was not perfectly clear, Mendes had survivors of the Parkland shooting up on stage with him.
They weren't there as props — they were singing.
These were Marjory Stoneman Douglas choir students.
Though surely this particular performance had been planned for a while, the timing was tragically appropriate.
Just last week, the mass shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas claimed even more innocent lives.
Once again, the murderer was a disaffected young male with a lot of anger … and with access to an AK-47.
Some are tentatively hopeful that November's midterm elections will see new politicians in office who are willing to actually take action, as so many countries have done, to prevent these tragedies.
Mendes' music isn't going to make that happen, but it can be a rallying cry for the voters who can make that dream a reality.
Shawn Mendes has plenty of stans who were in attendance in the audience.
Kpop fans were delighted to spot Jungkook bobbing his head and dancing along with "In My Blood."
There was actually a hilarious moment in the audience during that song.
Notably, Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello were standing and dancing in the crowd during "in My Blood."
Seated just a couple of rows behind them, Darren Criss used his phone to record himself entertained and pretending to be frustrated by Taylor and Camila obstructing his view.
The stars are "just like us" in many ways — they can be moved by each other's music.
But they can also get annoyed with each other over it.
As you'll see in the video, Hailey Baldwin was also in the audience.
Last November, rumors began to swirl that Shawn Mendes and Hailey Baldwin were dating.
Reports claimed that they were intensely cozy, and they've gone out and about together. They even attended the MET Gala together.
However, Hailey has claimed that the two are merely very good friends.
That claim of friendship has done nothing to help Shawn dodge the persistent gay rumors that have followed him for years.
Believing that someone is gay or bi and closeted is fine, whether you're correct or not. Calling them out as such on social media is unkind.
Sexuality is about as personal as it gets.
It was so good of Shawn Mendes to use his platform and the Billboard Music Awards for such a good message.
It was also good of Khalid, who is a newer name in the music world and whose name seems to be forgotten by many talking about this performance, to lend his voice and talents to the song.
We all hope to see a better tomorrow in which children are safe from death and horror.
